5 tips for being more productive and less overworked

There are several ways to improve your daily routine and work hard without going crazy.

1. Take breaks often. Divide your time into 1-2 hour-long sessions and 15 minute breaks in between. It’ll help keep your enthusiasm longer and you won’t get tired so quickly.

2. Resist the urge to constantly check your email, Facebook and other social media sites. It’s a great time-sucker, especially if you end up following an interesting link – just for a minute – and then another and another. You won’t even notice how quickly time flies when you don’t have much of it to spare.

3. Either stay up late or wake up extra early if you have a lot of work to do, don’t do both. Find the time when you’re most productive and use it. Don’t force yourself to work when you’re sleepy and can barely keep your eyes open. You won’t end up with a great-looking project.

4. If you’re easily distracted, get software to help you stay focused. There are applications to disable other programs for a set amount of time or take up the whole screen to block out others. Several are mentioned on freelance folder 7 free & paid tools to help you work without distractions.

5. Take a day off at least once a week and do something fun. Take a walk, go to the movies, catch up on some books. It’s important to get re-energized once in a while.
